Pomorskie Przedsiębiorstwo Mechaniczno-Torowe Sp. z o.o. in Gdańsk is a company distinguishing itself with more than 65-year long experience in provision of services related to maintenance, repairs and construction of railway roads as well as with repairs and renovations of machines for track works. 

The Company implements large infrastructure projects by providing services in the repair, modernisation and construction of track superstructures, in the repair and overhauls of track machines, in the lease of machines and equipment as well as in machining and transport.

Pomorskie Przedsiębiorstwo Mechaniczno-Torowe has specialised and experienced staff first: engineers, land surveyors, supervisors, machine operators with years of experience in the railway industry, as well as young but proven employees holding necessary licences and prepared for commissioned tasks. It employs more than 500 people.
Pomorskie Przedsiębiorstwo Mechaniczno-Torowe has specialised track machines such as track and switch tampers, ballast regulators, track welding machines or a dynamic track stabiliser, and its own rolling stock – locomotives and wagons. As part of transport activity related to the transport of aggregate and surface materials, PPM-T serves about 3-5 trains a day. The Company has well-equipped workshops, its own machining centre and a structural design and engineering office. As a result, the company provides comprehensive services on the railway infrastructure market with the use of specialised equipment and modern engineering and technological solutions.

Pomorskie Przedsiębiorstwo Mechaniczno-Torowe took part in large infrastructure projects at almost all transportation routes in the PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe. The Company's experience and business profile comprising the construction and repairs of rail superstructures is a key factor to the development of Polish railway lines at the moment.

HISTORY

Company was established in 2001 as a result of merger of two plants - Infrastructure Repairs Plant and Track Machines Plant in Gdańsk, under conducted restructuring of Polish State Railways.

Its history started, however, in 1954 when the Branch of Mechanized Roadworks in Gdańsk was created, known for decades as DOM. In cooperation with the Track Machines Plant in Gdańsk, known as DOT, existing since 1971, both units for decades constituted inherent part of the state-owned PKP enterprise, and the experience of crews in the field of the construction and repairs of machines and with regard to construction and renovation of track superstructures resulted in high quality of services provided by the units.

Within the scope of restructuring of the state-owned enterprise on 30 August 2001 on the basis of these branches the new Company under the name Pomorskie Przedsiębiorstwo Mechaniczno-Torowe Sp. z o.o. was established in Gdańsk, merging in this way great technical experience of prior personnel with the need of adjustment of the organization to the new market challenges and expectations.
